Get AWS IoT data into Splunk Enterprise

Amazon Web Services (AWS) IoT is a new service that can receive events from millions—even billions—of devices. As AWS IoT integrates with AWS Lambda, you can use the new AWS Lambda integration with HTTP Event Collector (HEC) to capture your IoT events to Splunk Cloud.

You can send data directly from AWS IoT to Lambda, which sends the data to HEC on Splunk Cloud. This flow is illustrated in the following diagram:

If you have a very large number of devices transmitting data, you can first send the data to Amazon Kinesis for queuing. Kinesis then connects to Lambda, which sends the data to HTTP Event Collector on Splunk Cloud. This flow is illustrated in the following diagram:
